I am working on linux since 2008. I am extensive user of linux even my development environment is on linux. In linux i like debian based distributions. Ubuntu for is desktop friendlyness and Debian(lenny) for it’s stability. Right now, i am using debian lenny. There was 0 crash on my AMD64. So today i decide to give try to freeBSD.

Decided to move my company on linux (Ubuntu)

Finally we move to linux. Not only server but clients also. And believe me it is just an amazing experience. Everyone in our company is just happy with this change. Well it took too long to decide this. Because as a developer point of view, We know windows has calibre to be king on clients. This is obvious, particularly here in India. In our education system, we never see any institute to take linux seriously. Moreover who ever see computer first time in India, That have windows. So such a big windows share is obvious.

Ubuntu 9.04 has been released!

Today Ubuntu 9.04 has been released and i am also going to give it a try. Just removed my OpenSUSE 11.1 and installed a fresh copy of ubuntu 9.04. This time it seems to me more sound with my hardware configurations. Earlier version of ubuntu were crashing on my hardware especially Firefox. Yet i couldn’t find frequent crashes of FireFox and thus ubuntu.

Leaving ubuntu because of frequent crashes on my hardware

I switched to ubuntu 8.10 64-bit desktop edition with high expectations. But it couldn’t make me so relaxed. No doubt, It is very good linux distribution, i have ever seen. But Because of frequent crashes of operating system and firefox. I decided to leave ubuntu.

Yesterday i had completed with “askeet” web application on my local server successfully. It was really great experience to work with symfony. Well personally i have experience of ruby on rails, CakePHP, CodeIgniter and now symfony also. Exploring around symfony, I came to know about one more database layer “Doctrine”.
